Indian hockey team is getting ready to gun for gold in the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. PR.Sreejesh, star goal keeper will be leading the 18 member Indian hockey team in the 26th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia starting from April 29. Manpreet Singh is the vice captain of the side.
Selectors showed faith in the members of the players who won the junior world cup. Defender Gurinder Singh, midfielders Sumit and Manpreet who were a part of the junior world cup winning sqard are selected for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
Chief Coach Roelant Oltmans emphasized giving juniors right exposure ahead of the national camp so that they could build a team that would make India proud in the 2018 world cup and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. To achieve this goal, Chief Coach inducted the youngsters from the junior men’s team.
Seniors Sardar Singh, Chinglensana Singh Kangujam, Harjeet Singh, Sumit and Manpreet will be taking part of the midfield. Rupinder Pal Singh, Pardeep Mor, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh and Gurinder Singh will take care of the defence while S.V Sunil, Talwinder Singh, Affan Yousuf, Akashdeep Singh and Mandeep Singh form the forwardline.
